From Felix Mendelssohn's 'ELIJAH'
From Felix Mendelssohn's 'ELIJAH'
On Wednesday 24th February we had a truly marvellous recital from Lauren Young (Mezzo soprano) accompanied by superb pianist Kristina Yorgova. Their repertoire, preformed live from Florence, ranged from grand opera to a description of the miserable life of an Alto via some truly memorable Scottish songs. It was such a treat, and one we all hope will be recreated soon. Thank you!
On Wednesday 3rd March we are being joined by Paul Mealor. He is considered one of the world's most performed living composers. A large proportion of his output is for chorus, both a cappella and accompanied. He came to wider notice when his motet Ubi Caritas et Amor was performed at the wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton in 2011. He later composed the song "Wherever You Are", which became the 2011 Christmas number one in the UK Singles Chart. He has also composed an opera, three symphonies, concerti and chamber music.
